YOUTH SLAM • $10 to register • ($5 for elementary)
- 1st place winners in high school and middle school receive $200 and a trophy, elementary 1st place gets $100 & trophy
- 2nd & 3rd place receive medals, gift cards, and certificates
Each contestant must have an original poem no more than 3 minutes long. Poems may be read (having paper in your hand is O.K.)
or recited. The poems will be judged by audience members. The highest and lowest scores will be dropped and the remaining
scores will be averaged. (1 through 10 - ten is highest possible score)
- In the event of a tie contestants will be asked to do an additional poem. Contestants are asked to have at least 3 poems ready.
- Poets are asked to use respectful language approved by parents and teachers.
- All registration forms must be given to competition MC before the competition.
- Names will be pulled from a hat to determine poet order.
- Be creative, have fun & WRITE, WRITE, WRITE!
